Long-eared owl

Long-eared Owls are extremely rare guests in Ottawa. I was thrilled to find this one tucked away in a park right in the middle of the city. Light was fading fast, but I managed to capture a few shots just before complete darkness fell. The owl sat quietly for a couple of minutes before slipping away silently into the night. It has now been three years, and that remains the only time I have ever encountered this species.
